PBM 201, Plan Design for the Pharmacy Benefit, is designed for those who are familiar with basic features of pharmacy benefit management (e.g., types of prescription drugs and cost-sharing designs).  It also assumes familiarity with the definition of, and common uses for, specialty medications.  

The learning objectives of this course are to:
 Discuss why cost-sharing is an appropriate tool to encourage clinically appropriate and cost-effective utilization

 Describe how plans typically structure and change cost-sharing amounts

 Discuss cost, access, and patient preference in mail and network pharmacy channels

 Describe effective and clinically appropriate formlary management practices
